Skill Shikshya Provides Mentorship at Ilam Municipality's Digital Skills Workshop

Skill Shikshya was honored to provide mentorship at a one-month workshop organized by Ilam Municipality, held from June 18 to July 19, 2026. The workshop brought together around 18 to 20 enthusiastic participants from Ilam and surrounding areas, who spent the month exploring three of the most in-demand digital skills shaping careers in 2026: Generative AI, Digital Marketing, and Graphic Design.

Ilam Municipality organized and hosted the initiative from start to finish. Skill Shikshya's role was to bring practical industry knowledge into the room, connecting participants with real-world insights, hands-on guidance, and a clear picture of where these skills can take them.

About the Workshop

The workshop was a structured, month-long learning initiative designed to give participants from Ilam exposure to digital skills that are transforming careers and industries across Nepal and beyond.

It was inspiring to connect with enthusiastic learners, share practical industry insights, and help them discover new career opportunities in the digital world. The energy in the room made it clear that the appetite for quality, practical digital education extends well beyond Kathmandu.

• Practical AI tools for content creation, writing, and visual generation
• How to use AI to improve productivity in real work scenarios
• Prompt engineering basics for non-technical users
• Real use cases relevant to local businesses and freelance work

Digital Marketing

Participants learned modern digital marketing strategies applicable to small businesses, personal brands, and local enterprises in Nepal. Sessions covered:

• Fundamentals of digital marketing and how it differs from traditional marketing
• Social media marketing strategies and content planning
• Search Engine Optimization (SEO) basics and how to rank content online
• Google and Meta ads introduction
• Building an online presence for local businesses

Graphic Design

Participants discovered the fundamentals of visual communication and design thinking. Sessions covered:

• Core principles of graphic design: layout, typography, and color
• Introduction to design tools used in the industry
• Creating marketing materials, social media graphics, and basic brand assets
• Practical design exercises with real-world briefs

Why This Initiative Mattered

Ilam is a growing hub with young, motivated individuals who are eager to build careers in the digital space. Workshops like this one, organized by local municipalities and supported by industry mentors, play a critical role in making quality digital education accessible outside of Kathmandu.
